Traffic was brought to a standstill when two tigresses went on the prowl in Bromley Cross, Bolton on 16th August. But there was no danger, for the two slinky females, Keelia and Katie Beth were just drawing attention to the area’s brightest new attraction, the Green Bengal restaurant.
Inspired by the Bengal tiger, a graceful big cat which lives in the forests, grassland swamps of Southern Asia, the Green Bengal offers a fresh approach to Asian cuisine.
Owner Zia Choudhury, opened the up market eaterie in a blaze of publicity which drew over 200 VIP guests including ‘big’ Sam Allardyce, the genial Mayor and Mayoress of Bolton and Senegalese Bolton striker El-Hadji Diouf.
A donation of £1,000 to Sam’s chosen FITC Drugs and Awareness charity kicked off a raffle which also helped raise money for the Mayor’s chosen charity, Bolton Hospice.
To add to the authentic Asian ambience renowned classical musician ‘Taz Lodhi’ entertained guests with a wide repertoire on the sitar.
“If you will pardon the pun the opening was a roaring success”, said Zia.
“We have worked incredibly hard to get this venture off the ground and it has been overwhelming to receive such a high level of support.”
“It was just purr-fect!”
